I so don’t have a clue where to begin, as I had intended to post earlier in the week I got so busy that as usual time completely escaped me… between working, mommy stuff and studying for my big exam I admit sleeping was far more attractive and interesting. (Sorry.)
Here’s my latest race bling… I like that Steamtown upgraded their medals, after running it for the fourth time, this metal is by far one of the nicer ones I now proudly own. Steamtown was my 15th marathon race and my first BQ back in 2008. I think the fitted shirts were also alot nicer than in years past, a bright orange color with a train and fall leaves on it, very seasonal. Right now I’m just happy to be running at all given my body fatigue. So as I previously mentioned, I also ran RTB-NJ a week later. It’s also a very nice medal and of course I just noticed that whatever state you run a RTB series in, that’s the shape of the medal too. Duh… I blame the sleep deprevation for not noticing that sooner. Now I need to run the one in Massachusetts for a complete set! (Yeah, I’d totally do it.) My main focus now is just getting back on the wagon of regular running and returning to 55 plus mile weeks. I’ve found that the more miles I’m hoofin’ the speedier I tend to get.
So last night, I attempted a long run but after chasing Monkey at a children’s party I was plum tired and ran 3.3 miles before saying, “Forget it!” I turned right around feeling a pulling soreness in both my left and right hips and slowly made my way back home. I was disappointed to have only run a slow 6.5 miles. Lame.
So as soon as I got home, I jetted to the car and headed to the grocery store and that’s where my real problem began. So many choices, soooo many decisions. It was like being an undecided voter in the Presidential Election, except this really mattered! I mean Pumpkin Ice Cream, or a mix of Ben and Jerry’s? What if I had a sudden change of heart and wanted a cone or a sandwich?
Don’t judge me. I seriously couldn’t decide and I was starting to wonder if the store clerks were going to call the police because I was loitering the frozen treat aisle for a good twenty minutes staring blankly at the cases of ice cream. So I did what any self respecting American does in a moment of haste. I exercised my right to be a capiatlistic consumer whore. However, in my dietary defense I did buy the mint skinny cow sandwiches and then totally dived into the pumpkin ice cream the moment I came home. What? Like I said, don’t judge me.
Haha I love that you bought all of that ice cream!
I would definitely do Reach the Beach: Massachusetts some day! We can’t do it next year but someday 😉
I’m going to eat a skinny cow Sammie right now. I don’t even care it’s almost 1AM. LOL
